Re: Needle height calibration

The final solution was loosening the upper bearing and reseating it, giving the vacuum tube more freedom. I'm now up to 2.2mm backoff, and picking components up & dropping them without resets.

Up looking camera - adjusting focus?

There is no mention of adjusting the focus of the up looking camera. Is that correct?
I notice in the "down" position the nozzle tip is out of focus. Just checking before I complete calibration.

Cheers

Mike.

Re: Needle height calibration

Thanks. I used a tiny amount of pressure on the lower spring - hoping to not need to strip the head down. It's been behaving well on nozzle changes, so fingers crossed!

Re: Needle height calibration

I see it now. I re-read one of your comments >When you manually push the tube up from the nozzle tip, these should happen, in this order: The tube goes up, triggering the switch. Then, the bottom collar goes up I had the lower spring too tight, so it was working in reverse. My back off is getting la...

Re: Needle height calibration

Another evening wasted, no success. I cannot get your calibration routine to complete with a backoff value greater than 0.2mm.

Re: Needle height calibration

Understood, thanks. (I'm glad I posted my figures so that you noticed!)

I'll go back and adjust the microswitch.

Cheers,

Mike

Re: Needle height calibration

From my machine, I consider this issue closed. Having set up the homing function, this procedure works. FYI, these are the values I had in my settings - I am not sure whether putting these in were relevant to the process now working for me: Z0 to PCB: 38.8 Backoff 0.2 Switch hysterisis: 0.2 Placemen...

Re: Optical Alignment on homing, during initial setup

For anyone interested in this thread, it's now closed - It was human error (mine!) not a technical problem. I'd failed to read further on in the setup documentation. It's all clear, if you read :)

Thanks to Juha for a quick analysis.

Cheers,

Mike
