Bug: Fiducial Inaccuracy

I think there’s an issue with Fiducial positioning in the latest version of the software, Juku: Please could you confirm. To reproduce: 1. Home and click On Run Job and Load “HelloWorldJob.csv” 2. Click Re-measure (also happens on “Place All”) and check all the Fiducials are centered and click OK on...

Re: Samsung nozzles and up camera calibration

Tried the white edding pen, but had better luck with the sanding. Here’s the method I used which keeps it flat and takes off a minimal amount... Tape some 1500 grit to a pcb keeping it flat. Put the nozzle on, click on Nozzle down and use F10 to rotate the nozzle a few times. Nozzle up, check if it’...

Re: Backlash and Slack Compensation

So with the above techniques and 0.8mm of Slack Compensation, the repeatability error on my machine now is: 0.021mm for X 0.032mm for Y 0.4mm is fine for X, but not enough Y. Success ! I’ve exposed the Slack Compensation Distance setting in Liteplacer to allow it to be adjustable, I’ll upload it as ...

Re: Backlash and Slack Compensation

Belt Tension: Belt tension in CNC/3D printers is always a subject about guessing, using thumbs etc., the reality is it doesn’t matter too much. Too tight and the end plates start to distort in this case, too loose and you loose accuracy. Just a bit tighter than loose seems to be the best approach. T...

Re: Backlash and Slack Compensation

A bit a about testing for repeatability.... It seems a repeatability accuracy of 0.02mm - 0.03mm in X an Y is achievable, but to get there, you have to have some way to test and improve.... This is how I ran the tests (with Slack Compensation on) 1. First get camera homing measurement running reliab...

Re: Backlash and Slack Compensation

Now the variable backlash. This one I tracked down to the ends of the belt where they are zip ties, and I suspect most machines have this to variable degrees depending on the zip ties used and how they are placed. If they’re placed as per the instructions (e.g. X axis belting in the build instructio...

Re: Backlash and Slack Compensation

Finally, I’ve got to the bottom of this, it’s a combination of problems not one issue which has had me going round in circles, I’ll deal with these over the next few replies. First the easy one, belt. Different belts account for different amounts of backlash. First, don’t use steel this is the worst...

Re: Backlash and Slack Compensation

The gradually decreasing error is interesting behavior. Have you tried somehow to measure if the belt tension changes? Or, does the gantry position drift, and not just the camera view (which means that it the camera mount is solid and we are looking at the right direction)? Does using different spe...

Re: [SOLVED] Mysterious nozzle to camera offset error

My gap is 0.5mm and consistent along the length after adjustment. Measurements for the 3 bars connecting the panels are
53.13mm, 53.10mm and 53.11mm. Bearings where already in the grooved wheel when the kit arrived.
