Optical Alignment on homing, during initial setup

Post by mikehibbett »

Hi all,

I am building a recent kit at the moment, and have reached an issue with the initial optical homing.

I've set the image processing to reconise, easily, my home 'dot'. Yet when I do a 'home' operation, it fails on optical recognition. Has anyone else seend this, who can comment?

Thanks,

Mike.

When the optical recognition fails, it leaves the machine in position. Is the dot in the camera image? If not, adjust the switches or dot position. If yes, have you clicked the copy here button on homing to move the values from the processing table to the homing operation? If yes on that, too, please email me your log window content (click inside the log window, ctrl+A to select all, copy and paste to a text document) with a screenshot of unprocessed camera image.

It is in position (pixel zoom off, 'box' off, it is outside of the box but still in vision.)
After xyz homing there is no further movement, if that helps?

After xyz homing it tries to see the dot. If it doesn't, it doesn't move. If the dot is in view, I need to see the log to figure out why. Btw, I assume you have set the box size? Also, if you click measure on the homing box, the log window shows the measurement result or maybe the reason for the measurement fail.

>set the box size

Not sure what you mean by that. Am I supposed to set the box size to cover the region of the homing dot? That wasn't mentioned anywhere. I'll try that now though.

Please see https://www.liteplacer.com/downcamsetup/ asection "Set the Camera Units". The software needs to know how many mm's a pixel is to know how much to move.

Yes, I have done that step. 3.6mm.

Even when I put the dot inside the box (which seems an unlikely constraint) it still does not move to the dot, even though it has been regonised.

Please email me the log window content and a screenshot; I should find out the reason from that.

For anyone interested in this thread, it's now closed - It was human error (mine!) not a technical problem. I'd failed to read further on in the setup documentation. It's all clear, if you read :)

Thanks to Juha for a quick analysis.

Cheers,

Mike
