Re: Some Photos to give other makers some ideas
I reworked the images of my post. Now you can see them in normal 800x600 size.

Some Photos to give other makers some ideas
Here are some photos of my almost finished LitePlacer. Maybe they can aid other makers how to place the cables. I modified the photos. I used a 12 wire chainflex cable material from the gantry to the connector box and 8/12/16 pin connectors with 12/12/16 shielded cables to the TinyG. DSC04011S.jpg T...

Re: Cat5 STP for motor wires?
I don't think using CAT5 cable for connecting the motor wire is a good idea because the wires will be bent many 10000 times during operation. The typical radius will be approx. 65mm (measured on the tool chain from the gantry to the x motor panel). And keep in mind that the motors can consume 2A per...

Re: Is TinyG safe for inducted currents?
Don't worry about the microcontroller. I don't worry about destroying the AVRs ports but loosing its flash firmware content and EEPROM values. Before I setup a suitable brownout level in one of my controller boards I once sold a couple of years ago, I had boards returned from my customers with corr...

Re: Enhance UX of LitePlacer
Discussion questions: Is it common to place all parts of a specific type at one job time? In what order are parts to be sorted / placed ? Background: Some parts with different heights can be very near to each other. Therefore if you place the higher component first the nozzle aka needle could touch...

Re: Enhance UX of LitePlacer
For those interested in other P&P UIs: They are very close to Maltes suggestion, but still work in progress: http://www.varioplace.com/blog/general/varioplace-pick-and-place-sofware-preview/ A very interesting UI from a P&P Pro (essemtec). You should take a look at the video. http://www.smtn...

Re: Is TinyG safe for inducted currents?
Well I looked at the Shapeoko forum and found similar reports: http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6324 http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=6392 http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2471 But there is no real comment on "is it safe?". Lo...

Re: Enhance UX of LitePlacer
I also must thank Reza for his contributions. Many great features and extensions. We (Malte, Reza, Juha and myself) are in the fortunate position of being able to modify the programs source according to our own goals. But there are many electronic makers that just want to assemble their prototypes o...

Is TinyG safe for inducted currents?
I just happened to move the x axis a bit faster while the TinyG was NOT powered up. To my surprise the blue power LED lit up during this movement  The steppers do create enough voltage that you can drive a connect second stepper as shown in the liteplacer unpacking video of that Australian el...

Re: so far so good...
Well the TinyG keeps track of all positions and when you hit any limit these positions are invalid and any continuation is impossible. Hitting a limit switch is an exception and therefore a clean reset with appropriate notification of the host is IMHO the best and safest reaction. If you have your m...
