stepper drive teeth
Hi Conceptually , ignoring backlash. If I increase the no of teeth on the X,Y drive GT2 belt (these have 20 and 36 teeth currently ?). I have seen some 60 teeth version with a 5mm and 8mm bore. Theoretically would this improve accuracy ? at the expense of speed of course. Or its only theoretical and...

Re: Setting up x axis / zero datum
Hi Yes this is in basic setup And yes i always do the home with the head off the limit switches. Not quite got as far as optical homing yet . Stuck now though as the machine is out of safe limits and it should be setting itself to 0,0 after the home operation. I'm thinking if its a tiny G code side ...

Setting up x axis / zero datum

If there are no fudicials
Hi
I have a few boards I want to put through that were always meant for hand assembly and don't have fudicials.
Would it work if I gave the coordinates of through holes or vias ?
They look like fudicials but of course have a hole in the middle ?

Re: Base and strip holder
Thanks guys Thats really useful advice. I do have some of the construction frame so I think as the example shown looks so neat I will change to that and MDF. As for the feeder strips , that looks great I will get some made. FYI I have found several places in the uk that will laser cut for less than ...

Base and strip holder
Hi Looking forward to starting the build of my kit soon , its due for delivery today. I am looking at having a 8 - 10mm thick aluminium base . I assume that this would solve any rigidity issues. Can you anticipate any issues with the vision system because of the shiny base ? For others info I antici...
