That makes sense, bare board -> hold down part.

Solder paste on board -> part is held in place by adhesion.

Finger Hold Down after Placing

In a lot of videos I've seen where fine pitch parts are placed by LitePlacer a hand comes in and the IC is "digitally" (couldn't resist) held down by a finger.

Since I'm not to this stage yet why is this done? I'm assuming it is necessary for some reason.

I don't know right now about different heights of different trays. If it doesn't matter (not into it that far yet) then these will work great for 8mm paper tape parts. Won't work for [most] black plastic parts because they hang down a lot. Not knowing for sure I'm printing 3D holders for parts in wh...

I've seen any number of different tape tray ideas presented. Is there any consensus on what works best?

Double-stick taping the parts to the table : - ?

Caps with clear tape

Just realized that this might be a problem. The 0805 Yageo caps I bought came in 8mm clear tape.

How is the down camera going to find the holes?
