Upgrade with linear rails

Post by Pixopax »

I recently upgraded my liteplacer with Hiwin linear ails typ MGN12, 12mm width.
I bought them from china, its original stuff, 2 rails on the X, 2 on Y and 1 on Z. All together for aprox. 350 Euro.

To make it possible I milled some new plates from 3mm aluminium, I first thought I would get it with most of the original parts, but it went easier making new fitting parts. That was used to make good fixing places for the cable guide too, and of course a stable cam holder, where I have fixed a ring led now.

Why I did this? I know, the precision comes from the vision system, but I had wobbling wheels, and also due to the rubber wheels the Z-Axis was not very sturdy, I coud move my nozzle tip a good 0.5mm with my finger. Every time I changed a nozzle there was a bit offset. So I decided to change that, and the result is very nice, the machine is a lot more stable, the Z-Axis is rock solid now.

The ring leds were mentioned here before, from China, but very usefull, the first light I got which makes a very even light spot, no more highlights on black and clear tapes. And it can be afixed very easy and stable.
