pickup heads

Hi

I'm about to order a system once I can be sure it will place ic's.

What happens in terms of pickup needles if I am placing say 0805 / 0603 using I assume a small needle then I want to place a 44 pin leaded device?

Would it even pick it up ?

I just have visions in my mind of ic's being picked up and dropped randomly.

You are right, a needle that is small enough to handle 0603s does not have enough grip for ICs. Therefore, you need to change the needle during a job if placing small passives and big ICs. The kit includes a set of different size of needles and a set of rubber suction cups.
