Build Question: LED Rings

The wiring instructions indicate to run the LED rings from the 12V fan connection on the TinyG. Just to keep a little bit of heat off the TinyG board, can anyone foresee any issues if the LED rings are wired in series and run from 24V?

I tried this for a few moments using a benchtop power supply and it seemed to work fine.

I've been running this way, the two kit supplied LED rings wired in series and directly to the 24V supply, for about two days.

Seems to work fine.
