No Fan needed on TinyG
No Fan needed on TinyG
Is there a fan needed on the TinyG ? If so what size would be recommended ?
Re: No Fan needed on TinyG
If you need to actively cool TinyG depends on the current setting for stepper drivers and hence the power being dissapated by the controller ICs.
I'd rather play it safe than being sorry, hence I added a fan.
It is important that TinyG board BOTTOM needs to be cooled. You can easily spot the thermal pads, make sure these are ventilated.
I installed this one and use a 3D-printed board mount which directs cool air from one side underneath the board:

On Thingiverse or YouMagine you will find quite a few mounting solutions for TinyG and some of them also support 80mm or 120mm fans as used in computers.
