That's weird, that it will only apply it when the next move command happens.
Instead of moving the X axis slightly wouldn't it be better to lift and then lower the z axis if it is lowered (or lower and lift the z axis if it is at Z0) This would prevent people from manually controlling the machine, and not using the pick this up or place here buttons from manually lowering the nozzle down to a component and then activating the pump (and solenoid as needed) and have the head move in such a way that it could move off the component?
Moving the Z axis should lift the nozzle slightly and then lower back down right where it was placed... just a thought...
