proper belt tension

So I have read around a bit how to properly tension the belts on the liteplacer. So far the information I found is inconclusive. I was hoping people here can help narrow down the answer.

-) If the motor makes noises while spinning the belts are too tight
-) if the belt makes a low audible note when plucked it is properly tensioned
-) if the belt makes any audible note when plucked it is too tensioned

Any thoughts?

I haven't found any definite (like, from a belt manufacturer) information either, for any belt driven machine. Maybe that is because it is not very critical. Your guidelines sound good to me, noting that motors make some noise anyway. Also:

-If belt tension causes machine or Y axle twisting, belt is way too tight
-If there is noticeable slack on the machine, one reason can be belt not tight enough.
-Having the two Y belts equally tensioned is good. When you change tension on Y, loosen one of the pulleys.
