I am wondering what is the practical maximum speed and acceleration that can be used without bad effects. (Like increased error in placement, missed steps, undue wear and tear.)
Thanks, Jim
Maximum practical speed/acceleration for stock LitePlacer
Re: Maximum practical speed/acceleration for stock LitePlace
There is no added wear and tear for fast speeds, the system doesn’t go that fast. The penalty for too fast speed or acceleration is a motor stall. You’ll notice it, it is not subtle. Accuracy doesn’t seem to depend on speed, as long as the movement is smooth.
The max step rate with the TinyG controller is about 50kHz. We have 40mm/motor revolution and 400 steps, so 0.1mm/step, 10 steps for a mm, multiplied by your microstep ratio.
