informations request

Post by pdp11 »

Hello,
I'm evaluating the purchasing of a small placer,
for my personal project, I use some 0402 and some 0.5mm pitch QFN, (and I will use 0.8 bga in future).
I can pose those components by hand with microscope, but is slow and not easy.
I'm evaluating a small placer, I'm designg a board with more than 400 components (250+ 0402 passives) and I think is too complex for hand posing (by me).

Can liteplacer pick and place reliabily small components as I needed?
What are the cut tape feeder option?
There are option for auto feeder support? (for only 3-4 components types)
There is a small 3d printable tray option?

I have some difficulties to found some reviews.
The best review that I found is done by inductive-kickback.com, that use openPNP.
There are others indipentend review.

I like a lot open desings, that are easy to repair by time over proprietary desing.

Best regards,
Pietro

Hi,
Thank you for your interest to my machine!

Yes, well tuned LitePlacer can reliably do 0402s and I firmly believe that it can do BGAs as well. I have meant to experiment with PCBs with BGAs, print the image on a transparent sheet with transparent double sided tape on it to grab the part and take images from below, but haven't yet. Please note, that there is an option to use up looking camera to tune the placement parameters.

3d printed holders work great. Please see this post: viewtopic.php?t=6644

There is not yet an "official LitePlacer" feeder. There are several feeders on this forum and more on OpenPnP forum. The software does not yet have the option to do loading moves that some solutions need. The machine can be used with the OpenPnP software, that does have that now.

No. Please feel free to design some and post here!
