Consistent / Inconsistent Crash (COM ports)

Post by dc37 »

Hi - is it possible to incorporate into the software a "force COM port dismount" or something of the like? I am finding this rather annoying to deal with every time since I have to reset the program, the machine, and sometimes the computer, many times, before it works again. Usually I am able to force dismounting other COM ports using the Device Manager, but the program crashes so readily that it becomes unusable whenever it gets into this error state...

My current fix for this is to re-start the computer, keeping the machine powered off, dismount all other COM ports using the Device Manager, start the machine, then start the program. (If the program attempts to connect to a non-TinyG COM port, it hangs, and sometimes crashes).

Code: Select all

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
