I want to build a single piece laser cut "square" for the PCB locator rather than the traditional two separate pieces. If I do this where do I put the "home dot"? All the pictures show the dot directly below the vertical piece and directly to the left of the horizontal piece. Can I put it someplace else if I make a single piece locator?

You can place the PCB locator where you want it. The homing dot goes where the camera can see it in the upper right quadrant of the image when mechanical homing process is completed.
